Next generation BMW 7 Series to use carbon fiber
In a contemporary interview with BMWBLOG, Dr. Klaus Drager understood that the next generation BMW 7 Run will make extensive use of carbon structure.
When asked the question in this area CFRP moving into mainstream manufacture cars, Dr. Draeger said: “At with the intention of moment we will have a peek at how far we will be, for later products. We will result in carbon fiber as well for BMW-no matter what-next-7 Series, but I think it will be vital to have the right material mix, be inflicted with high-strength steel, aluminum, and in addendum to it, carbon fiber.”
In another interview including UK magazine Autocar, the RD Chief inveterate again the carbon fiber use in the then 7 Series flagship. The redesigned 7 Run will come to market in 2015.
Draeger understood the new 7 Series’ structure would doubtless feature a mix of materials, with the carbon structure parts being added to the aluminum and steel old in today’s car. The roof, bonnet and bootlid are most liable to be made from CFRP.
Prospect M products are also expected to use extra carbon fiber parts, in an have a crack to further reduce the weight of fit cars.
