Video Review: BMW M5 vs. Jaguar XKR-S

Dutch magazine AutoWeek delivers a record comparison between the new BMW M5 and the Jaguar XKR-S. Previous to we jump into the review, let’s be inflicted with a look at the powerplants found in the two super fit cars.

With the 2012 BMW M5, the Garching-based sport rift replaces the naturally aspirated engine including a TwinPower turbocharged V8.

The high-revving 4.4-liter (4395cc) turbocharged uses the BMW M TwinPower Turbo equipment, twin-scroll turbochargers, distinguished-precision direct fuel booster, Valvetronic variable valve hegemony and a cross-bank exhaust many. 2012 BMW M5 outputs 560 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 501 lb-ft of torque (680 Nm) at 1,500 rpm.

The distinguished-rev unit rockets the M5 to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds and below 4 seconds using BMW’s new Launch Hegemony.

BMW offers a 7-speed DCT and manual transmission in the new M5. The M5 is restricted to a top speed of 155 mph, or 190 mph including the M Driver’s Package.

Jaguar XKR-S is powered by a supercharged and preside over-injected 5.0-liter AJ V-8 producing 550 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 502 beat-feet of torque between 2500 and 5500 rpm. Top alacrity is limited to 186 mph. The XKR-S runs to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, as veteran by Car and Driver.
